Cinnamon Cake with Brown Sugar Frosting and a Blackberry Compote

Usually when I bake for my friends something goes horribly wrong (performance anxiety) but this worked out😎I’m internally and externally screaming that there was no light when I recorded this but whateves. Also for those of you who miss my plate don’t worry she’s still here.

Cinnamon cake
Brown sugar frosting
Blueberry compote
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 °F degrees and grease 9 inches cake pan.
Whisk together flour (1 ½ cups), baking powder (2 ¼ tsp), cinnamon (2 ¼ tsp), and salt (½ tsp).
In another bowl, whisk together sugar (1 cup), butter (½ cup), and vanilla (1 ½ tsp) until combined.
Add eggs (2 large) one at a time, fully combining after each one.
Mix in flour (1 ½ cups) and milk (½ cup) slowly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes (start checking at 25).
Frosting
Mix butter (1 cup) and brown sugar (½ cup) until a smooth consistency.
Add powdered sugar (4 cups), vanilla (1 tsp), milk (1 Tbsp), and cinnamon (1 tsp) and mix thoroughly until all combined (scrape the sides and adding more milk as needed).
Blueberry compote
In a pot, add blackberries (1 cup), sugar (1 Tbsp), lemon juice (½ Tbsp), and water (½ Tbsp) on medium heat until boiling.
Let it cook for 5 minutes, mixing often.
Reduce heat to a simmer and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Assemble the cake
To assemble the cake, spread brown sugar frosting on the cake and add the blackberry compote to the center.
Let chill in the fridge before serving.
